Hire a cabin yacht for 7 days
5 tuition days – combining RYA Levels 1 & 2
Sail on your own for the last 2 days – our instructors are happy to assist you on your last 2 days if required or due to adverse weather conditions
RYA Certificates for each person (subject to passing)

Sailing Holidays

Available for Sailing Holidays. Most of our Fleet of historic 1930s traditional wooden sailing yachts have electric pod engines onboard so are eco-friendly and offer the experienced sailor a sail second to none. The Hunter Family built our yachts specifically for the Norfolk Broads over 90 years ago and boast a compliment of five 2 berths, five 3 berths and four 4 berth boats.

Cabin Yachts

Our cabin yachts have self-tacking jibs, making them a little easier to handle. Although many of our yachts now have electric pod engines, there are still some which are “engineless” and for the experience skipper these yachts provide the classic and authentic experience, but you do need to be an experienced skipper to take one of our engineless yachts. We even have seasoned sailors who take our Hustler Class out single handedly! With the yachts that have no engines onboard, your engine is a quant for any times you may find yourself becalmed!

Day Boats

For hire periods of a day, or up to full weeks, we have our open boats known as Half-Deckers (day boats), from single sail balanced lugs to our Gunter rigged mainsail and jib boats.

Ever fancied learning how to sail but thought you just couldn’t do it? We are proud to say that we have some of the best Instructors on the Norfolk Broads working with us right here at Hunter’s Yard.

Learn to Sail Holiday

As a Royal Yachting Association (RYA) Training Centre we are able to offer a range of training from the National Sailing Scheme using our Keelboats. Our comprehensive courses are designed for all levels from beginners to advanced.

We know this is your holiday too, your instructor will work with you to help you gain only needs to have the information in the second box down.

5 days – £405 per person

This is an intensive course, designed to produce competent sailors who will be able to sail independently in moderate conditions

2 days – £212 per person

This course follows on from Levels 1 & 2, aiming to build confidence, developing good techniques and promoting more successful independent sailing

3 days – £272 per person

This course develops all the skills you learnt in Levels 1& 2, takes you towards improving your sailing and boat handling kills and builds your confidence and abilities to make seamanship decisions in moderate conditions.

1 day – £115 per person

This course is designed to help you convert from a half decker to a larger heavier yacht. You will cover handling a gaff-rigged boat with self-acting jib, setting sail, sail controls and more!

Sleeping onboard during your course is welcome.

NB – This is not an RYA course

Instructor – £115 per day

Half a day – £80 am or £70 pm

Instructor RYA Course – £130 per day

Please note – you will need to add the cost of boat hire to the instructor costs (pricing as per our brochure)

All prices include full instruction, boat hire, books, certificates and use of buoyancy jackets.

Courses are subject to weather conditions and sufficient numbers

So why not come on a week’s holiday, we’ll teach you how to sail and even gain some RYA qualifications along the way? Your instructor will work with you so you can enjoy your time on the boat, see the beautiful Norfolk Broads and learn to sail. Our aim is for you to have fun while you learn and get you sailing on your own for the last 2 days.
